Nigerian Passport Exercise

Fellow Nigerians, the Nigeria Consulate office in New York will be in Chicago July 18 thru 20 for passport renewal services. This will take at the Africa International House located at 6200 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago Illinois 60637, Given the newly instituted changes by the Federal government of Nigeria, only those who pre-register will be attended to. Therefore please follow the instructions outlined below.


2019 Chicago ePassport Exercise

 

All intending applicants should complete the online application and submit/register with Dr. Ewa Ewa and Ms. Adanna Okoro to participate in the exercise. In light of the new ePassport system changes, we will not be able to assist anyone who did not register for the exercise.The Consulate will be here for biometrics capture only. Submit all application and supporting documents to me DR. Ewa or Ms. Adanna Okoro on or before Saturday, May 25, 2019 for intake. Registration fee is $101 per applicant which includes registration and venue fees, and express mail envelop fees. You can pay by cash and a receipt will be issued to you at the day of event, however if you prefer to buy the express mail envelop (only) for $26, please bring it with you.  

 

 

STEP 1 – APPLY

Visit the New York Consulate Passport Info Link and read the requirements at http://nigeriahouse.com/NewPassport.aspxComplete passport application at https://www.innovate1services.com

  • Select United States as Processing Country

  • Select New York as Processing Embassy

  • Select 32 pages for booklet type

Application payment should be made on portal. Print out application, payment slip and acknowledgement slip. After completion, you can forward all materials to me at ewa.ewa@att.net oradamazievents@gmail.com Per instructions from the consulate, these materials will then be sent immediately to the consulate. Only applications the meet this deadline will be treated on the day of event. 

 

STEP 2 – REGISTER

Contact me Dr. Ewa at 773-289-7973 or Ms. Adanna Okoro at 773 443 6516 to schedule a submission/registration appointment to submit your application and supporting documents and pay your registration fee. Once again only pre-registered applicants will be attended on the day of event, this is predicated upon personal limitation and associated resources at the consulate.

 

STEP 3 – ATTEND THE EXERCISE

·      All registered applicants must attend the exercise for biometrics capture.

·      All renewal applicants are required to bring their passports along to the exercise for verification purposes.

·      Bring your $100 Consulate Fee in cash. If you have paid this money to Ms. Adana Okoro, she will have your funds available for you at the exercise.

·      Lost Passport Applicants should bring their $370 Penalty Fee in cash per request of the Consulate. 

Please visit the consulate website for more information if you need further clarification, thank you. Those whose passports are still pending from previous exercise are advised to come to the sight with documents for recapture resolution of their problems.

 

DIRECTIVE FROM THE CONSULATE

Passport applicants should expect to receive their passports 3 to 6 months after exercise. Passports that are not returned by the sixth month will be considered a problem case and applicant will need to visit the processing Consulate to resolve issue.

The Lagosians of Chicago, as part of its "Annual Give Back Program"will be donating  African Outfits in collaboration with Africa International House (AIH), the promoters and sponsors of the Annual African Festival of the Arts (AFA) at the Center for Contemporary African History and Culture of the AIH:
6200 S. Drexel Avenue Chicago IL (Harris Gymnasium)

The Lagosians of Chicago was established in 1991 as a socio-cultural organization with the aims of: 1) supporting and bringing together the Lagosians in Chicago; 2) advocating and supporting the development of Lagos State, Nigeria and 3) fostering good will with residents of Chicago and the diaspora. It is one of the many chapters of the Eko Club International (ECI), a Nigerian Charity Organization established in USA, UK and Canada for the purpose of supporting member organization and the development of Lagos State.

The Lagosians of Chicago carries out its mission in Chicago by conducting an Annual Give Back Program. This year, the donation of African Outfits in collaboration with the African International House, USA Inc. is one of such efforts. In the past, members, have participated and supported, back to school efforts, winter coats, toys and food drives and served at the Chicago pantry.
The African Outfits give away is a part of the Black History Month commemorations to further encourage the wearing of African Outfits casually and during festive occasions. The (FREE) beautiful clothes range in value from less than $100.00 to several hundreds of dollars: They include:
Several complete sets of Agbada- worn at festive occasions throughout Africa, Several two-piece sets used at a variety occasion and casually. There are contemporary women clothes used for all occasions, including, weddings and birthdays and naming ceremonies 

There are no requirements except one set per person and vendor/retailers are strongly discouraged from participating.
The African Outfits donation will be accompanied by modeling, music and light snacks.
